한국천문연구원에서는 K-GMT Science Program의 일환으로 2026B시즌 Gemini망원경의 관측제안서를 모집합니다. 제출된 관측제안서들은 학계의 전문가로 구성된 제안서 심사위원회의 공정한 심사를 거쳐 관측시간이 배정됩니다. 정규 Call과 더불어 Fast Turnaround (FT), Poor Weather (PW), 그리고 Director’s Discretionary (DD) Time 등의 방법으로 언제든 제안서를 제출하실 수 있으니 K-GMT Science Program에서 제공하는 다양한 기회를 적극 활용해 주시면 감사하겠습니다. 

GHOST Webinar

Gemini South의 고분해능 가시광 분광기 GHOST는 383–1,000 nm 파장 범위를 커버하며 R~56,000(표준 모드) 및 R~76,000(고분해능 모드)를 제공하는 최신 분광기입니다. 2026B 학기에는 두 분해능 모드가 모두 제공되며, GHOST PI들은 자료 처리가 완료된 관측 자료를 제공받게 됩니다. 이와 관련하여, 제미니 스탭이 직접 한국 사용자들을 대상으로 GHOST 관측 모드 및 제안서 준비에 대한 웨비나를 3월 초에 진행할 예정입니다. 웨비나는 3월 6일(Part 1)과 3월 13일(Part 2), 두 차례에 걸쳐 각 1시간 내외로 진행됩니다. Part 1에서는 기기 소개 및 우리 은하 천체를 중심으로 한 과학 연구 주제를, Part 2에서는 외부 은하 관련 과학 연구 주제와 관측 설계 방법을 다룰 예정입니다. 자세한 일정 및 접속 방법은 아래 내용을 참고하시기 바라며, 관심 있는 연구자 여러분의 많은 참여를 부탁드립니다.

Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI) invites observing proposals for the K-GMT Science Program 2026B with Gemini. Submitted proposals will be awarded observing time after a fair review by an independent Time Allocation Committee composed of experts from the community. In addition to the regular Call for Proposals, submissions are also accepted through Fast Turnaround (FT), Poor Weather (PW), and Director’s Discretionary (DD) Time programs. We encourage the community to take full advantage of the various opportunities provided through the K-GMT Science Program.

GHOST Webinar

GHOST, the high-resolution optical spectrograph at Gemini South, covers the wavelength range of 383–1,000 nm and provides spectral resolutions of R~56,000 (standard mode) and R~76,000 (high-resolution mode). In semester 2026B, both resolution modes will be offered, and GHOST PIs will receive fully reduced data products. In this regard, Gemini staff will host a dedicated webinar for Korean users in early March, covering GHOST observing modes and proposal preparation. The webinar will be held in two one-hour sessions on March 6 (Part 1) and March 13 (Part 2). Part 1 will introduce the instrument and highlight science cases focused on Galactic targets, while Part 2 will cover science cases centered on extragalactic targets and provide guidance on observation design strategies. Please refer to the information below for detailed schedules and connection instructions. We warmly encourage interested researchers to participate.
