한국천문연구원에서는 K-GMT Science Program의 일환으로

Gemini Band 3 Program Letters of Intent (LOI)를 모집합니다.

Gemini Band 3 LOI 모집은 국내 Gemini Band3 프로그램을 활성화하고 

Band 3 프로그램에 대한 학계의 의견을 모으는 것을 목적으로 하고 있습니다. 

Band 3 관측을 활용하는 모든 주제의 연구는 LOI를 제출할 수 있습니다 (복수 제출 가능).  

LOI 제출이 관측 시간을 보장하는 것은 아니며, 제안서 제출과 심사과정을 거쳐야합니다. 

하지만 여러 학기에 걸쳐 관측이 필요한 프로그램이 LOI를 제출 후 최종 선정되었을 경우, 이후의 관측제안서 모집에서 제안서 제출과 심사 과정의 간소화 혜택 등을 제공할 계획입니다. 

Band 3 프로그램의 경우, Band 1/2에 비해 우선 순위가 낮으므로 가능한 다양한 관측 조건에서 수행 가능하여야 합니다. 대략 다음의 조건들을 만족하면 Band 3 프로그램으로 적절하다고 여겨집니다.

* IQ85/CC70 또는 이보다 안좋은 조건에서도 관측 가능

* 최소관측단위당 (또는 타겟당) 최대 관측시간이 한두시간이 넘지 않는 관측

* 타겟들의 RA 분포가 다양한 관측

* 시의성이 중요하지 않은 관측

Korea Astronomy and Space science institute (KASI) invites Letters of Intent (LOI) for the Gemini Band 3 Program of the K-GMT Science Program.

This call for the Gemini Band 3 LOI is to promote research using Gemini Band 3 programs and to collect any opinions from the Korean community about Band 3 programs. Any research topics using Band 3 are eligible for the LOI (multiple LOIs are fine). LOI does not guarantee observation time, and proposal submission and review process is expected. However, a program that needs multi-season observations may enjoy benefits such as a simpler submission and review procedure once the LOI program is approved.

Since a Band 3 program has lower priority than Band 1 and 2, therefore it should be executable under various observing conditions. If a program fits the following constraints, it is considered to be suitable for Band 3.

* Executable at IQ85/CC70 or poorer

* Observation time of the minimum observing set (or per target) shorter than 1-2 hours   

* Targets with a wide range of RAs 

* No time-critical program
