Dear colleague,

We would like to inform you of SCALE: Strings & Cosmology – All Lengths Explored, a conference on the intersection of fundamental physics and cosmology. The meeting is organized by the Instituto de Física Teórica (IFT) UAM-CSIC in Madrid, in collaboration with the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC) in Tenerife. It is scheduled for May 11-15, 2026, and will take place at the Hotel Landmar Playa La Arena in Tenerife, Spain.

You can find full details on the conference website:

The conference poster is available on the website and is also attached to this email.

Invited keynote speakers:

  • Cliff Burgess (McMaster University & Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics)
  • Joseph Conlon (University of Oxford)
  • Ed Copeland (University of Nottingham)
  • Claudia de Rham (Imperial College London)
  • Gia Dvali (Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München & Max Planck Institute for Physics)
  • Astrid Eichhorn (University of Heidelberg)
  • Wendy Freedman (University of Chicago) (TBC)
  • Lam Hui (Columbia University)
  • Justin Khoury (University of Pennsylvania)
  • Elias Kiritsis (University of Crete & APC, Université Paris Cité)
  • Lloyd Knox (University of California, Davis)
  • Rocky Kolb (University of Chicago)
  • Andrei Linde (Stanford University)
  • Dieter Lüst (Max-Planck-Institut für Physik)
  • Liam McAllister (Cornell University)
  • Fernando Quevedo (University of Cambridge & NYU Abu Dhabi)
  • Arman Shafieloo (Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute)
  • Gary Shiu (University of Wisconsin–Madison)
  • Alessandra Silvestri (Leiden University)
  • Glenn Starkman (Case Western Reserve University)
  • Cumrun Vafa (Harvard University)
  • David Wands (University of Portsmouth)

The program will feature a mixture of keynote/overview talks, focused and guided discussion sessions, and brief flash talks, with the aim of highlighting the most promising research directions in the coming decade. The overview talks will frame the discussions and help stimulate constructive exchanges among participants. Our goal is to prepare a review article on the current status and future developments in the fields, based on the discussions held during the event. There will also be ample time to enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of the Canary Islands and for informal scientific interactions.

The conference will cover five broad themes:

  • The early Universe and spacetime symmetries (day 1)
  • The cosmological constant problem and the late-time Universe (day 2)
  • Bottom-up approaches to fundamental physics and cosmology (day 3)
  • String theory and other top-down approaches (day 4)
  • Connections to observations (day 5)

We encourage those who are interested in cosmology, string theory, quantum gravity, and/or other fields of fundamental physics to join us. Practical information, including registration deadlines, can be found on the conference website. Please note that the early-bird registration deadline is December 19, 2025, particularly for those interested in leading a discussion session.

We would appreciate it if you could share this announcement with colleagues who may be interested.

Kind regards,

The organizing committee (Y. Akrami, G. Alestas, B. Bento, J. Carron, V. Collazuol, M. Fasiello, S. Kuroyanagi, A. Makridou, J.. Martin Camalich, S. Nesseris, A. Papageorgiou, S. Raucci, M. Scalisi)
