"The 9th Galaxy Evolution
Workshop" [Schedule] Date: 2023 February 20 (Mon) - 23 (Thu) Location: Kyoto University Science
Seminar House + online (zoom) Web: https://events.asiaa.sinica.edu.tw/workshop/20230220/index.php Note1: we may switch to a 100% online if
the pandemic situation gets significantly worse in Japan. Note2: the number of on-site participant
will be limited to ~80, depending on the pandemic situation in Japan. Only the
registered people can enter the seminar house. Note3: Poster presentation will be done
in Slack. [Scientific Rationale] The field of galaxy evolution covers a
wide range of astrophysical scales: from the cosmic large-scale structure to
the central black hole of the Milky Way. This is a rapidly evolving field and
thus it is important to understand astrophysical processes operating on various
physical and time scales to draw a complete picture of galaxy evolution. While a classical workshop focusing on
some specific aspects of galaxies is already useful, a workshop with a broader
scope, essentially on everything about galaxies, is highly complementary. Motivated by this, we decided to hold a
“Galaxy Evolution Workshop" every year to improve our understanding of the complex nature
of galaxies and their evolution over the cosmic time. In this year, we will hold an
international in-person workshop, for the first time after the covid pandemic,
in Kyoto University. The goals of the workshop are: • to present and discuss
new results • to discuss what the next
steps will be This 9th workshop is jointly hosted by
Japan, Taiwan, and Korea communities, to spark cooperations among East-Asia. We very much appreciate presentations
(both oral and poster) by young postdocs and students. Any presentations related to galaxies
(from the Milky Way to the most distant galaxies) are welcome. In addition to general science sessions,
we will have a focused session. This time our main theme is ‘Early
Science with JWST’, which is undoubtedly the hottest topic this year. We invite several keynote speakers to
provide broad context reviews. We also welcome contributed talks for
this focused session. We look forward to seeing you at the
workshop! [Keynote Speakers] Masafusa Onoue (KIAA/IPMU): early black
hole growth Yuichi Harikane (ICRR/U.Tokyo): early galaxy formation Tomotsugu
Goto (National Tsing Hua University): cosmic star formation and black hole
growth histories Chian-Chou Chen (ASIAA): stellar morphology and dusty
star-forming galaxies Myung Gyoon Lee (Seoul National Univ.): formation and
evolution of globular clusters and galaxies Myungshin Im (Seoul National
Univ.): early galaxy formation and multi-messenger astronomy [Registration] https://events.asiaa.sinica.edu.tw/workshop/20230220/registration.php The deadlines are Abstract submission:
