1st announcement: Mini-Workshop on Solar System Primitive Objects

Scope:
Small solar system bodies, such as asteroids, comets, interplanetary dusts, as well as
Centaurs, and trans-Neptunian objects are fossils remaining from the time of the formation
of the Solar System. Accordingly, understandings of these objects provide critical
information about the formation and evolution of our planetary system. Thanks to the
advances in technology, we have had tremendous progresses in the field over the past
dozen years or so. For example, the Hayabusa mission provides ground truth for astronomical
objects. The following-on mission, the Hayabusa 2, is being developed. Astronomical
survey projects with ground-based telescopes and space infrared telescopes offer synoptic
view of the widespread Solar System objects. Brand-new data catalogs using AKARI and
WISE data have just been available to researchers. Under these circumstances, it is a
good opportunity to make a synergy between theory and observations for comprehensive
understanding the Solar System. In this workshop, we aim to establish a collaborative
relationship between researchers working with different approaches. As a kick-off meeting,
we target researchers in South Korea and the neighboring countries.

Date:
Thursday, June 13, 2013 -- Friday, June 14, 2013

Venue:
Seoul National University (SNU), Seoul, South Korea

Registration fee:
Free

Travel supports:
A limited amount of travel support will be provided by National Research Foundation of
Korea and Korean Astronomy and Space Science Institute. We are planning to support travel
expense of 5- 10 undergraduate/graduate students and young researchers who wish to make
presentation in the meeting. The first priority is to fund student speakers.

List of conveners:
Masateru Ishiguro (Seoul National University, South Korea)
Young-Jun Choi (KASI, South Korea)
Fumihiko Usui (ISAS, Japan)

Support Agencies:
National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF)
Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI)
