First Announcement The Second AKARI Conference: Legacy of AKARI: a panoramic view of the dusty Universe to be held from February 27 - 29, 2012, at Ramada Plaza Hotel, Jeju island, Korea Conference homepage: http://uju.snu.ac.kr/AKARI-2/ Objectives The purpose of this conference is to present latest results based on observations of AKARI together with relevant topics to the wide international community. AKARI is the first Japanese satellite dedicated to infrared astronomy, managed and operated by JAXA with the participation of ESA and universities and research institutes in Japan, Korea, UK, and the Netherlands. AKARI made an all sky survey at six wavelengths between 9 and 160 microns, with the point source catalogues now open to the international community. AKARI’s legacy datasets provide research opportunities in many areas such as the interstellar medium, evolved stars, nearby galaxies and the distant Universe. All astrophysical areas that utilize the AKARI data will be covered by this conference. Any researchers working on related subjects are encouraged to attend the conference, regardless of any previous experience in using AKARI data. Main topics 1. Solar System Objects 2. Stars and Circumstellar Matter 3. Star Formation and the Interstellar Medium 4. Nearby Galaxies and Clusters of Galaxies 5. Distant Universe Program The conference program will be made of invited talks, contributed talks, and posters. We welcome your contribution to the conference program. Scientific Organizing Committee Lee, Hyung Mok (Seoul National Univ., Korea) Co-chair Kaneda, Hidehiro (Nagoya Univ., Japan), Co-chair Blain, Andrew (Univ. Leicester, UK) Burgarella, Denis (OAMP/LAM, France) Helou, George (IPAC, USA) Im, Myungshin (Seoul National Univ., Korea) Koo, Bon-Chul (Seoul National Univ., Korea) Matsuhara, Hideo (ISAS/JAXA, Japan) Meixner, Margaret (STScI, USA) Mueller, Thomas (MPE, Germany) Nakagawa, Takao (ISAS/JAXA, Japan) Ojha, Devendra (TIFR, India) Onaka, Takashi (Univ.
