The Nobeyama Radio Observatory of the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan (NAOJ) invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher position starting as soon as possible. The successful candidate will work with Drs. Daisuke Iono, Kuno Nario and Ryohei Kawabe on the commissioning and improving the stability of the new 32GHz wide spectrometer system installed on the 45m telescope, and use this instrument to observe high-z galaxies as part of the high-z legacy project. The candidate is required to reside at the Nobeyama observatory, and spend 50% of the time on the above project. The rest of the time can be spent on individual research. The candidate will have internal access to 45m time and will be eligible to apply for ALMA time through the EA-ARC. We have funding for this project until the end of March 2013. Applications should include (1) CV, (2) list of publications, (3) a summary of past research, and (4) a statement of the proposed research at Nobeyama. Please send all application material to Satomi Kato (kato@nro.nao.ac.jp) via e-mail by October 3, 2011 (17:00 JST). The application can be written in either English or Japanese. Nobeyama Radio Observatory operates the 45m telescope and the Atacama Submillimeter Telescope Experiment (ASTE), both telescopes have been used extensively in galactic and extragalactic astronomy by researchers around the world. Nobeyama is located about 3 hours from central Tokyo, in a small beautiful town with a population of about 3000 and at an elevation of 1350m. Please contact Daisuke Iono (d.iono@nao.ac.jp) or Ryohei Kawabe (ryo.kawabe@nao.ac.jp) for further information.
