*************************************************************************************** Nuclear Opacity in AGN and its Astrometric and Astrophysical Applications Seoul, Korea --- April 28-29, 2011 *************************************************************************************** ************************ First Announcement ************************ Dear Colleagues, We are pleased to announce the workshop "Nuclear Opacity in AGN and its Astrometric and Astrophysical Applications". If you are interested in this workshop, please register by filling the registration form in the end of this announcement and send it to LOC at coreshift@kasi.re.kr by Feb. 28, 2011. You may also find details for the workshop in the workshop web site (http://kvn-web.kasi.re.kr/wiki/index.php/KVN_coreshift_workshop). == General == The Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI) will host the "Nuclear Opacity in AGN and its Astrometric and Astrophysical Applications" on April 28-29 2011. The workshop will be held in Seoul at Yonsei University ( http://www.yonsei.ac.kr/eng/ ), where the head quarter of the Korean VLBI Network (KVN; http://kvn-web.kasi.re.kr/en/en_index.php) is located. == Scientific rationale == The purpose of the workshop is to put together the efforts of studying the nuclear opacity in Active Galactic Nuclei and its application to the astrometric and astrophysical research. We expect that the workshop will be devoted to the productive discussion and interactions between researchers interested in both astrometric and astrophysical studies of the nuclear opacity in AGN. == Location and Accommodation == The location of the workshop will be Yonsei University, Seoul, Korea. The venue of the workshop is the Sangnam Institute of Management in Yonsei University. The information for the accommodation can be found in the web. == Registration - Call for papers == We are now opening the registration and abstract submission process. You are invited to express/confirm your participation by filling in the registration form in the end of this announcement and sending it to coreshift@kasi.re.kr. The deadline for abstract submission and regular registration is February 28, 2011. The presentations (oral) accepted for the workshop will be made known soon after the selection by the SOC. == Proceedings == The meeting will consist of invited talks and contributed talks. The detail of the publication of the proceedings will be announced later. == Registration fee == All attendees are required to register for the workshop. The full registration fee includes a copy of the workshop abstract book, refreshments during coffee breaks, the workshop dinner. The registration fees are 100,000 KRW for regular participants and 50,000 KRW for students (1 US$ = 1157 KRW as of Dec. 16, 2010).
