First Announcement of 8-th EAMA (East Asian Astronomy Meeting) Symposium “East Asian Network of Astronomy: Research, Education, and Popularization” 10-15 October, 2010, Shanghai, China Jun. 30,2010 Dear Colleagues, It is our pleasure to invite you to attend the 8-th EAMA Symposium to be held on October 10-15, in Shanghai, China. The EAMA, East Asian Astronomy Meeting, has a 20 years history of promotion and organization of astronomer’s level cooperation of astronomy in the East Asian region. During the very successful 7-th EAMA Symposium held in Fukuoka, Japan 2007, the astronomers exchange, joint meeting and/or activities among astronomical societies were promoted, and we recognized the importance of education and popularization in EAMA activities. As you know astronomy in Asia is coming active very rapidly and cooperation among us is now glowing in the most of fields of astronomy and astrophysics. We had also shared the very successful IYA 2009 last year. The IAU has started its decadal plan “Astronomy for Developing World”. Therefore we hold the 8-th EAMA Symposium with the same title of “East Asian Network of Astronomy: Research, Education, and Popularization”. The main Topics will include: - Regional project reports - East-Asian research collaboration reports - Future projects and regional collaboration strategies - Hot topics of the East Asian astronomy - East-Asian astronomy education and public relations. Please join us to make friends and contact, learn the activities of each other, discuss the cooperation, and make the future of East Asian Astronomy.
