ATNF Telescope Proposals for 2020OCT

ATNF Telescope Proposals for 2020OCT Proposals for observing time are now invited for the 2020OCT semester for the: * Australia Telescope Compact Array (ATCA), * Parkes 64-m telescope, * Tidbinbilla 70-m and 34-m antennas, and * Long Baseline Array (VLBI). The deadline for all proposals is 07:00 UT (17:00 AEST), Tuesday 16 June 2020. All proposals must be submitted using the online proposal application system, OPAL (http://opal.atnf.csiro.au/). Cover sheets from previous semesters should be re-loaded into the OPAL cover sheet editor and carefully re-checked. Note that OPAL will now, in generating the full proposal, list an abbreviated version of the proposal team  at the end of the proposal as part of a trial to reduce unconscious bias during the review process. Important information on the current status of ATNF telescopes is provided at http://www.atnf.csiro.au/observers/apply/avail.html. A section at the top of this webpage notes some important changes for the 2020OCT semester. This includes a suggested approach to rationalise the Parkes receiver fleet in order to prioritise  the new and upcoming wideband and phased array feeds. It is proposed to decommission the  20cm multibeam receiver in the coming semester, however decisions on the receiver rationalisation  will be based on the proposal pressure and feedback from the community.
