K-GMT Science Group은 2019A K-GMT Science Program을 통하여 Gemini Fast Turnaround (FT) 관측프로그램 제안서를 모집합니다. FT Program은 KASI가 2019A시즌부터 Gemini 운영 공식 파트너쉽을 시작하게 되면서 한국 천문학 커뮤니티에 새롭게 제공되는 관측기회입니다.

매달 제안서를 모집하는 Gemini FT 프로그램은 주로 파일럿 스터디나 기존의 관측데이터에 추가 관측이 필요할 경우, 또는 새로 발견된 천체에 대한 빠른 후속 관측이 필요한 경우등에 매우 유용하게 사용되고 있습니다.  FT 프로그램 제안서 심사 방식은 별도의 Time Allocation Committee를 구성하지 않고, 제안서를 제출한 PI들이 심사위원이 되어 다른 PI들이 제출한 제안서를 심사하는 방식으로 진행됩니다.

이번 2019A 시즌에는 Gemini-North와  Gemini-South 망원경에 각각 약 7시간이 한국의 FT program을 위한 시간으로 할당되어 있습니다. FT 프로그램을 제출하고자 하는 연구자들은 “반드시” FT프로그램에 맞춰진 다음의 템플릿을 사용해야 합니다. Fast Turnaround proposal templates : http://software.gemini.edu/phase1/templates/2019A/.

The Fast Turnaround (FT) observing mode allows the user the possibility of converting an idea into data much more quickly than the regular semester process (monthly proposal submission and assessment, with data obtained for accepted proposals 1-4 months after the submission deadline). FT proposals do NOT need to be urgent to qualify; they just need to be good. Consider using FT rather than the regular semester process for:

Gemini North and South are accepting proposals for the Fast Turnaround (FT) program. Here, we give information specific to this proposal cycle. Please see the other FT pages - particularly the rules - for general information about the program. FT-specific proposal templates must now be used for all FT proposals; see the "PIT information" section below. The revised 2019A PIT must be used.

K-GMT Science Group invites observing proposals for the Gemini Fast Turnaround (FT) program through the 2019A K-GMT Science Program. FT program is one of new opportunities provided to Korean Astronomy Society as KASI embarks a full partnership with Gemini Observatories from 2019.

The FT program invites proposals monthly, and has been used to conduct pilot studies, complement existing data sets, and follow up newly-discovered objects, although we welcome proposals for any kind of project with scientific value. Submitted proposals are scientifically reviewed and graded by the PIs and/or co-Is of other proposals submitted during that round. By submitting FP proposals, you are supposed to serve as a reviewer of the other FT proposals.

About 7 hours per each telescope are assigned for the (potential) Korean FT users during 2019A semester.
