Dear Colleagues, Here is a reminder of the JCMT Science Workshop to be held in Japan on Jan 19-21, 2015. The main goals of this workshop are 1) to inform the new JCMT community of the new operation plan of JCMT; 2) to prepare survey programs for the early and regular operation phases; 3) to build up collaborations for PI programs for the early and regular operation phases. In addition, there will be lectures given by JCMT Support Scientists to provide new users with key information on the telescope/instruments and how to prepare proposals. For more detailed information on the workshop, please spend a minutes to take a look at the material below. 1. Participants You can find a list of the participants at 2. Agenda (please note that breakdowns for the group discussions are still TBD) You can find the agenda at 3. Remote Participation If you would like to join the workshop talks and/or group discussion sessions from a remote location, please send your request directly to Nagayoshi Ohashi (nohashi@naoj.org) along with a note describing the subjects/topics you are interested in. We will use either Skype or a videoconference system for remote participation. Details on how to connect will be provided to those who request remote participation. 4. Program selection and time allocation procedures Although JCMT will carry out both survey and PI programs, the program selection and time allocation procedures still have to be discussed at the JCMT Board Meeting, which will be held on January 16, 2015 at Hawaii. At the Board Meeting, various issues regarding science operation of JCMT after EAO takes over the operations will be considered. As soon as details of the science operations are available, we will make a quick announcement to inform the JCMT user base. |
