2026 SKA Korea Winter Workshop

SKA Korea Winter Workshop 2026

Dear colleagues,

We are pleased to announce the 2026 SKA Korea winter workshop, to be held at Yonsei University, Seoul, from Dec 16 to 18, 2026. We warmly invite you to participate.

The Square Kilometre Array (SKA) is currently under construction and moving closer to its first science phases. Meanwhile, its precursors and pathfinders, including MeerKAT, ASKAP, and MWA, are already delivering scientific results. With Korea moving toward membership participation in the SKA Observatory (SKAO), this is an important time for the Korean SKA community to strengthen its scientific and technical contributions and expand international collaborations.

Under the theme, "Towards SKA1 - Strengthening Korean participation and international collaboration," this winter workshop aims to bring together the Korean SKA community to share recent scientific progress and ongoing research, explore opportunities to participate in international collaborations using SKA precursors and pathfinders, and discuss Korea's future contributions to SKA1.

The workshop will also address developments in instrumentation and technology, SKA Regional Centre (SRC), opportunities for industry engagement, and international research and training opportunities for students and early career researchers.

In addition to scientific presentations, breakout discussions will be organized around several key topics, with the outcomes shared among all participants. We particularly encourage students and postdoctoral researchers involved in SKA-Korea research programmes to present their work. Contributions on ongoing projects, new research initiatives, or very preliminary results are highly welcome. We also warmly encourage participation from researchers across all areas of astronomy and related fields, as well as those interested in SKA-related technology and industry opportunities.
