Postdoctoral Position in Gravity at Sejong University

The successful applicant is expected to work on gravity at low acceleration (the regime of astronomical gravitational anomalies) through observational tests with wide binary stars and/or numerical/theoretical investigations. The applicant will collaborate with Prof. Kyu-Hyun Chae at Sejong University and his domestic and international collaborators.

Observational tests with wide binary stars will be carried out through analyzing the upcoming Gaia DR4 database and Bayesian modeling of accurate 3D velocities based on accurate radial/line-of-sight velocities of stars obtained by the ongoing observational campaign. Those who are familiar with Gaia data and stellar astronomy are particularly encouraged to apply.

Observational tests will be accompanied by numerical investigations of modified gravity models and theoretical investigations of the observed gravitational anomalies. Those who have experience with numerical investigations of modified gravity are encouraged to apply.

The position is immediately available, and the successful applicant is encouraged to start the position earlier than or on March 1st, 2027. The initial appointment is for three years and can be extended by mutual agreement.
