The integration of SKA telescopes into global VLBI networks presents both challenges and, more importantly, exciting opportunities to realize what we have dubbed "next-generation VLBI." This talk will review the SKA-VLBI observing mode, highlight areas for improvement, and outline the operational model—including the potential for commensal observing alongside other SKA projects. There are numerous opportunities for the community to engage with this effort and prepare to fully exploit the transformative scientific potential of SKA-VLBI.
