초록: 

거대마젤란망원경(GMT) 건설 사업은 2026년 현재 미국 국립과학재단으로부터 건설 예산을 확보하기 위한 사전 단계로서 최종설계를 진행 중이다. 오늘 발표에서는 GMT의 최종설계 진행 경과를 소개하한다. 아울러 GMT 시대를 대비한 우리나라 천문학계의 활동들을 간단히 공유하고자 한다.

Title: GMT Project Status and K-GMT Activities

Abstract: 

The Giant Magellan Telescope (GMT) project is in its final design phase in 2026, aiming for getting financial support from the US National Science Foundation (NSF) to complete construction. In this presentation, the current activities and prospects regarding the final design of the GMT will be introduced and a brief summary of the efforts by the Korean astronomical community in preparation for the GMT era will be reviewed.
