천문학회원분들께,

Rubin 천문대가 2025년 LSST 탐사관측 개시를 앞두고 있으며, 따라서 향후 Rubin DRH 연구자만이 접근할 수 있는 다양한 Rubin 커미셔닝 데이터 관련 스쿨 등 이벤트가 이어질 것으로 예상됩니다.

2023년 결성된 Korean Rubin Science Collaboration(KRSC)은 한국천문연구원의 지원을 바탕으로 현재 한국천문학계의 연구자 49명(PI 14명, JA 35명)에게 Rubin DRH 자격을 제공하고 있습니다. 그리고 젊은 연구자들에게 Rubin 자료를 경험할 수 있는 기회를 확대하기 위해 약 20여명(변동가능)의 JA 연구자를 추가로 모집합니다. Rubin 자료 활용연구에 관심있는 젊은 연구자들이 관심을 갖고 적극 지원하기 바랍니다.

5. 참고: PI는 최대 JA 4명을 지원할 수 있으며, 최종적으로 충원하는 JA 연구자 인원은 변경될 수 있습니다. 또한 현재 JA 등록상황도 변경되었을 수 있으므로, 관심있는 PI 연구자에게 직접 연락하여 문의하시기 바랍니다. 이번에 모집하는 JA 연구자의 Rubin DRH 기간은 기존 DRH 연구자와 동일하게 2026년7월31일까지입니다. JA 추가모집은 2025년 중반에도 계획되어 있습니다(단 해당시점 여석에 한함).

Dear KAS members,

The Rubin Observatory is expected to start commissioning in 2025, and we expect many early science data and related events that would be only accessible to Rubin DRH scientists in the coming months.

The Korean Rubin Science Collaboration (KRSC) is happy to invite applications for Rubin JA DRH status. The KRSC has currently 49 Rubin DRH scientists (14 PI and 35 JA), based on the generous support from Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI), and expects to be able to accommodate up to about 20 (subject to change) more JA scientists. The KRSC encourages early career scientists to apply and get chances to do sciences with Rubin early commissioning data.

4. Prerequisite: Prospect applicant needs to get a consent from the Rubin PI scientists to be your mentor and supervisor. So strongly recommend to refer to the Korean Rubin DRH List page and start contacting your prospect PI scientists.

5. Note: The exact number of JA positions available may change and all available positions may not be filled up. The prospect applicants are strongly advised to contact PI scientists to see any available chances. The term of these newly recruited JA scientists is up to 2026/07/31, as is for the existing DRH scientists. There will be a similar call for JA application mid-2025 (TBC; Only IF any JA slots should be available).
