Announcement for 1st SKA-VLBI Workshop
in Korea
https://ska.kasi.re.kr/meetings/oct-2024-ska-vlbi-workshop
Dates
- October 21 to 25, 2024
Location
- Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI), Daejeon, Korea
Rationale
As the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) project moves into its deployment phase, it
is a timely moment to revisit discussions on SKA-VLBI (Very Long Baseline
Interferometry). VLBI is a field where the Korean radio astronomy community
possesses expertise, and with Korea's participation in the SKA project from
2025, there is a growing interest in SKA-VLBI within the Korean SKA group.
In light of these developments, we are organizing a workshop designed to
- assess the current status of SKA-VLBI,
- evaluate future directions for SKA-VLBI, considering the latest scientific
and technological advancements,
- explore potential roles and contributions of the Korean group in SKA-VLBI
initiatives.
We aim to bring together experts in SKA-VLBI, including key figures from the
Jumping JIVE "VLBI with SKA" project and the SKA-VLBI Working Group.
The workshop will feature a series of seminars along with contributed talks,
complemented by pre and post discussion sessions.
We encourage all those interested in SKA-VLBI to participate in this workshop.
Topics
- SKA-VLBI science review
- SKA-VLBI operation
- SKA and SKA-VLBI commensality
- Multi-view technique
- Correlation and user support
