Massively Multiplexed Spectroscopy with MSE, February 26-28 2019

The Maunakea Spectroscopic Explorer is a planned 11.25m, wide-field, optical and near-infrared facility completely dedicated to multi-object spectroscopy of samples of millions of faint astrophysical objects. This meeting will bring together the MSE project and the broader astronomical community to exchange information and ideas in the following areas:

 

Scientific landscape post-2025, and the role of large aperture multi-object spectroscopy

 

MSE overviews, including opportunities for engagement and Education and Public Outreach

 

Developing the MSE Science Case, including planning the Design Reference Surveys

 

Synergies with other facilities, including LSST, Gaia, TMT, GMT and many more

 

Science operations, including lessons from other surveys and integrating MSE with data from other facilities

 

Community engagement, including partnership development, Astro2020 and other community strategic plans
