Purpose and Scope:

Gravitational waves were detected for the first time by the advanced LIGO in September 2015. New detectors such as KAGRA in Japan and LIGO-India in India are also under construction aiming to strengthen detection capabilities of gravitational waves.  It is also time to consider concepts of future detectors operating at different frequency bands than currently available ground based detectors. This workshop is intended to foster live discussions on various issues of gravitational wave astronomy, possible ways of collaboration for the success of KAGRA and LIGO-India and technological challenges of the future direction of future detectors.

We plan to run the workshop in relaxed atmospheres for live discussions. Intensive lectures will take place during the morning sessions while the afternoon sessions are dedicated to informal discussions.

Venue:

The meeting will take place at Hotel Bloomvista (http://www.bloomvista.co.kr/) located in Yangpyong, just outside of Seoul. Accommodation will also be arranged in this hotel.  Accommodation and meal will be provided free of charge for all accepted participants.

Travel:

From Incheon International Airport:

Most of the international participants will arrive either Incheon International Airport (ICN, http://www.airport.kr/pa/en/a/index.jsp).  From Incheon, the most convenient way to come to Yangpyong is to take a limousine bus number 6030 to Yongsan Station  and take a train bound for Yongmoon to get off at Yangpyong. Please take a hotel shuttle bus or taxi to Bloomvista hotel at Yangpyong station. Taxi costs about 11,000 Korean Won (approximately 10 US dollars). Hotel shuttle bus is free but it does not run frequently. The departure times of the shuttle bus at the train station are 6:40, 7:45. 9:05, 11:15, 13:45, 15:45, 17:45, 18:45, 20:45 and 22:30. The shuttle bus stop is located outside of exit number 1 of the train station.
