KASI and TRAO call for Key Science Program using 14m Telescope

Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute(KASI) plans to run Key Science Programs(KSPs) using 14m radio telescope of Taeduk Radio Astronomy Observatory(TRAO). KASI and TRAO would like to call for KSP proposals starting from 2016 September. Please submit your invaluable KSP by the end of September 2015.
Recently we were able to finish successful reassembling process of the 16-beam receiver(SEQUOIA-TRAO) system, and found that its status is likely to be excellent; the receiver temperature is ranging from 60~80K for 86 to 110 GHz, and 80~110K for 115GHz. The multibeam receiver system is a cryogenic focal plane array, equipped with high performing InP MMIC amplifiers. We expect system temperature would be ranging from 200K~250K for 86 to 110GHz, and 400~500K for 115GHz. Two molecular lines could be simultaneously observed as it has two 2nd LO within 15GHz band range. Backend system is a high performing correlator, providing a bandwidth of 50MHz with a 15kHz resolution (0.045 km/s at 100GHz). In addition, we upgraded the computer system from Modcomp to VxWorks. Subreflector system has been well maintained, and the old radome will be replaced by the end of 2016 summer.
Please submit proposal in English (to yulee@kasi.re.kr) at best four pages (font size 10), including science justification, results of previous work, figures and tables, telescope time request, etc. Submitted KSPs will be evaluated by the end of October, and finally selected KSPs will be announced in November 2015. We plan to start internal operation in early 2016, and will open to users from all countries from 2016 fall season.
